Less than two weeks before my world was turned upside down by the loss of my mother, I chose the name Buqi (amongst a few other options) for my new project, unaware of the deep significance it would soon hold. It was only when I gathered the strength to officially secure the domain name that I discovered Buqi is an ancient Chinese word meaning “Healing.” Throughout the darkest days, when the sunlight felt too much and my energy was spent in mourning, Buqi became my refuge. In those brief moments of work—just 20 minutes at a time—I didn’t realize I was embarking on a path to healing, not just emotionally but in forging a tool that seeks to bring health and resilience to the financial backbone of businesses. Buqi has grown beyond a name to me. It represents a preordained solace: a project that spoke of healing before I knew I would need it.
